As winter reaches its peak in the US, we are facing an increase in curtailment incidents. However, we are working hard to ensure that we bring the miners back online each time, and we are proactively taking measures to maximize uptime.

Please note the structure used below for our weekly Compass updates:

  • Facility updates: updates on any facility changes, including moving miners between locations, downtime, or general information about one of Compass’s partner facilities
  • Deployment updates: updates on current deployments from manufacturers to Compass hosting locations
  • Relocation updates: updates on miners moving from one Compass Mining facility to another

Facility Updates

Ohio 2: Our facility is currently operating at maximum capacity, and we are taking proactive measures to optimize our space utilization. Our on-site technician is conducting an audit to identify areas where we can increase efficiency and maintain our high utilization rate of 99%.

Ohio 3:  The facility had to undergo mandatory curtailment in the last week and successfully resume operations after the scheduled downtime had been completed.

Ontario 1: The Bitmain technician has successfully completed the approved hash board repairs on site, and the miners are now back online. Additionally, our on-site technicians have received the necessary parts to carry out other repairs, which will further enhance the performance and reliability of the system. Furthermore, we have made some network improvements in the facility in the past few weeks.

Minnesota 1: The facility has experienced some operational disruptions due to winter weather conditions. Currently, the weather has improved, and the team is focused on ensuring the safety and efficiency of the facility.

Texas 5: To meet the high grid demand and winter weather, the facility had to implement curtailment measures more frequently than usual in the past two weeks.

Curtailment & Outage Trends:

In the past two weeks, we have been closely monitoring the performance of all our facilities. Unfortunately, winter weather events have caused some challenges, which resulted in an increase in curtailments experienced by several facilities, including Ohio 3, Minnesota, Texas 1, Texas 3, and Texas 5, during a single week. The following summarizes curtailment and downtime activities across all of our facilities in the past two weeks.

Relocation Updates

Oklahoma 1

The technicians at the Texas 3 facility are working diligently to clean the units, and the process is estimated to be completed sometime this week. The miners will gradually be brought back online, and customers will be informed as soon as their miners are up and running.

Texas 4

Our primary focus now is to ensure smooth shipping and bring more miners back online in the coming weeks, as the majority of the Texas 4 units have been processed at the service centers.

S19 XP units: We still have some miners being processed at DSC, but those queued for redeployment are being shipped and deployed to different facilities at a steady pace.
Non-XP units: Texas 4 units that have been processed at the Washington service center are currently waiting for shipment schedule to Texas 3. The miners will be shipped to the facility in small batches starting this week and continuing through next week.
